On July 22, 2017, COERR Mae Hong Son organized the Environmentally Friendly Awareness Raising in Cleanliness and Waste Management activities for Young Refugees. 64 children, including 42 girls and 22 boys, joined the training and activity.
The activity started with COERR staff teaching the children how important it is to keep the camp clean and free from garbage, to throw garbage in the bin, to collect garbage and separate the garbage and to understand 3-R: reduce, reuse and recycle.

After knowing about basic waste management, garbage collection, 64 volunteer youth followed COERR staff to survey the community roads and collect garbage along the way to make the road clean again. Even the rain could not stop the voluntary spirit of youth.
When the task was done, youth said that they were satisfied to learn that waste management and garbage separation were important, that recycled garbage could be sold and created some income. They were also happy to meet new friends and to do activity for the benefit of the community with their new friends. |
